NET.LOGIX 6.0 Release

October 15th, 2015 No comments

Phoenixville, Pennsylvania — October 15, 2015 — CimQuest INGEAR, a leading publisher of runtime-free software development solutions for industrial applications, has introduced a new version of its NET.LOGIX software. All versions of the company’s NET.LOGIX software contain a library of drivers for Allen Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SoftLogix and Micro800 series programmable automation controllers (PAC) that Visual Studio.NET programmers can use to create HMI (Human Machine Interface) applications. NET.LOGIX software provides direct access to the controller memory, data bases, I/O and communications, letting programmers obtain the information they need from the controller, process it in a PC, and send commands back to the device for control. The software does not require third-party components, drivers, APIs or tools such as OPC Servers. This approach, in contrast to proprietary PLC supplier solutions, is a dramatic improvement for machine builders in that NET.LOGIX completely eliminates costly runtime fees applied to each unit sold.

NET.LOGIX v6.0  has enhanced unsolicited message support which allows Allen-Bradley controllers to request (read) data from a user application.  Additionally, the user application can optionally reject an unsolicited message causing the MSG.ER bit in the controller to be set, and selecting variety of error codes for the MSG.ERR value such as “TAG DOES NOT EXIST”.

NET.LOGIX v6.0 also adds ability to upload symbolic tag list from Micro 800 series CPU, as well as a number of under-the-updates such as: driver update for Micro 800 FRN 6.0 and later, driver update for 1756-L85E and cpu and later, updated licensing and other miscellaneous improvements and fixes.

NET.LOGIX v6.0 comes in four versions: Developer Edition, Compact Framework, Developer Team Edition and Single Machine Edition. Developer Edition is for designing, creating, and deploying Windows programs, system services and console applications. Compact Framework is for creating programs for devices such as Allen-Bradley PanelView, handheld scanners, HMI Panels, PDAs and other devices. Developer Team Edition is for developing automation projects in a Visual Studio.NET team environment. Single Machine Edition is for designing, testing, debugging and running Windows programs, system services and console applications on a single machine.

NET.LOGIX 6.0 supports Visual Studio 2005-1015. Applications developed with NET.LOGIX 6.0 can run on 64 and 32-bit Windows XP to Windows 10, Windows Server 2000 or later, Windows Compact Framework, and Windows Mobile.

Existing NET.LOGIX 5.0 users under current support are eligible to receive version 6.0 as a free upgrade.

NET.LOGIX 6.0 is available for immediate download and free trial.

Phoenixville, PA—July 17, 2012—CimQuest INGEAR, a leading supplier of runtime-free software development solutions for industrial applications, introduces its newest version of factory floor device communications software, NET.ABLINK 4.0. Providing a direct communication channel to Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers, NET.ABLINK 4.0 delivers fast communications without the need for costly OPC servers.

INGEAR NET.ABLINK 4.0 allows users to develop their own Windows programs, system services, class libraries and ASP.NET solutions for automation and control applications without OPC constraints. Through the software, operators experience the following benefits:

  • Direct communication to Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers using Ethernet, DH+, DH-485 or Serial DF1
  • Managed code specifically written to address the demands of writing HMI or data acquisition and control applications for Microsoft’s .NET Framework
  • Runtime free deployments without additional license fees
  • No third-party components, drivers, API’s or tools

“Unlike OPC, which is a middleware application that presents complex programming and challenging application compatibility, NET.ABLINK 4.0 is an embedded class that features a direct communications pipeline to the controller, making it easy to talk to your PLC—fast and without the overhead and recurring costs of OPC servers,” said Chuck Karwoski, President of CimQuest INGEAR.

Like all solutions in the INGEAR.NET software family, NET.ABLINK 4.0 is a runtime free class library that simplifies building, developing and deploying connected systems for manufacturing applications using Visual Basic .NET or Visual Studio C#. It uses only three primary classes of .NET code, which are used to manage the PLC, manage the data that are read from or written to the PLC and manage groupings of methods, properties and events to optimize read/write operations on a collection.

Applications developed with NET.ABLINK 4.0 can run on 64- and 32-bit Windows and Windows Server, Windows Compact Framework, Windows Mobile and Linux with Mono Framework. To provide users with flexible purchase options, NET.ABLINK 4.0 is offered in multiple editions, including Single Machine Edition, Developer Edition, Team Edition and Compact Framework Edition. An optional USB license key is also available to easily float development capabilities to runtime computers for field testing and debugging.

NET.GELINK (3.0.2010.1222) addresses GE 9070/9030 firmware bug

December 23rd, 2010 No comments

When using a Windows 7 machine to communicate to a GE 9070 or 9030 results in the PLC immediately resetting the socket connect.  This is because Windows 7 may assign the local endpoint IP Port number larger than 32767.   The firmware on the GE Ethernet module will immediately reset the connection if the source IP port is larger than 32767.

The behavior is limited to 9030/9070 and Windows 7.  The PAC Rx3i and Rx7i can receive source IP ports larger than 32767. Windows versions before Windows 7 typically assign port numbers less than 32767.

As a work around for the 9030/9070 firmware bug, INGEAR.NET.GELINK 3.0.2010.1222 Controller.IPAddress has the option to allow users to bind a specific port number to the local endpoint.  Users are responsible for port assignment and port management.

Syntax:

Controller.IPAddress = ipaddress<:portnum>

Example:

Controller.IPAddress = “192.168.1.45:2445”

This will connect to the PLC at 192.168.1.45 and use IP Port 2455 in the local end point.

INGEAR with LOGIX Firmware Release v18 and v19

December 17th, 2010 No comments

Several customer have contacted us expressing concern:

I heard from our local Rockwell rep that the new tag memory structure in Logix firmware v18 and v19 affects INGEAR software is this true?

FALSE … firmware changes have no impact INGEAR software’s ability to read/write tags.

Although firmware release v18 &19 changed the internal memory utilization for Tags, it does not affect tag communication.

INGEAR.NET.LOGIX continues to be the leading choice for programmers developing Visual Studio .NET applications to Allen-Bradley Control Logix / Compact Logix programmable automation controllers.

NET.ABLINK 3.0 Released with Unsolicited Message Support

September 8th, 2010 No comments

NEW ! – Unsolicited Message Support

Among the advanced features of NET.ABLINK 3.0 is a new PeerMessage class. The Peer Message class for Unsolicited Messages waits idle in a passive state for the Allen-Bradley controller to send data via a MSG instructions.  When the PeerMessage class receives the communication, it fires a notification event with data to so the user application can immediately process it.  The PeerMessage class can receive MSG instructions from MicroLogix, SLC, PLC-5, ControlLogix, CompactLogix and ControlLogix Gateway. ControlLogix and CompactLogix can send unsolicited messages using native tag names with structured and atomic data types, or data table address format.  The PeerMessage class automatically distinguishes between the various message formats so implementation is consistent between all data types and all Allen-Bradley PLC’s.

Another advanced feature in NET.ABLINK 3.0 is the new DTEncoding class which facilitates receiving User Defined Types (UDT’s), Pre-Defined Types (PDT’s) as objects in unsolicited messages from ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers.

INGEAR NET.ABLINK software provides an alternative to OPC- based drivers software for Visual Studio .NET developers.  Unlike OPC which is a middleware application, NET.ABLINK is an embedded class that provides a direct communication channel to Allen-Bradley controllers. The sensible API of NET.ABLINK 3.0 provides an easy to use interface that results in very fast communications without the overhead and recurring cost of OPC servers.    The users of NET.ABLINK have unprecedented flexibility to develop their own Windows programs, system services, class libraries and ASP .NET solutions without being boxed in by OPC constraints.

Like all solutions in the INGEAR.NET software family, NET.ABLINK 3.0 is a runtime free class library that simplify building, developing, and deploying connected systems for manufacturing applications using Visual Basic .NET or Visual Studio C# .  It uses only three primary classes of .NET code:  one of which manages the PLC, one the data that are read from or written to that PLC, and one manages groupings of methods, properties, and events to optimize read/write operations on a collection.
